Daniel Radcliffe has spoken out in support for "Harry Potter' co-star Emma Watson and her HeforShe campaign for promoting gender equality.
"I think it's fantastic that she's bringing attention to it and adding to the conversation," the 26-year-old actor said in an interview with Nylon Magazine for its November issue.
Watson's campaign reaches out to men to show their genuine support for gender equality, with the notion that equal rights for women can only emerge if there are active advocates from both genders.
As for Radcliffe, the "Horns' actor believes that treating men and women equally is already part of his nature. He also states that the issue is "bemusing, honestly, maybe because I have cool parents with a very equal marriage and have had good role models all my life."
Radcliffe's remarks come following the increased scrutiny over Hollywood's gender pay gap ever since actress Jennifer Lawrence wrote a compelling essay in Lena Dunham's Lenny newsletter titled "Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co Stars?"
Several actors,- including Watson, Bradley Cooper and Josh Hutcherson, among others - have already shared their aspirations for pay equity in the film industry.
"O Jennifer Lawrence. I love you so. x" Watson shared on Twitter after the essay was published.
Meanwhile, Watson will star in James Ponsoldt's upcoming film adaptation of Dave Eggers' novel "The Circle.' Photos of the actress on set in Fillmore, California have already emerged as production has already begun.
The technological thriller film will also star Tom Hanks, John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Patton Oswalt and Bill Paxton. Watson will play a tech wizard on the movie, which sheds more light on the dangers associated with different forms of technology.
As for Radcliffe, his upcoming film "Victor Frankenstein' will show him as Igor and will follow his character's experiences as an assistant to Dr. Frankenstein. It will be directed by Paul McGuigan and written by 'Chronicles' writer Max Landis.
"It's about creation, and Victor is not only creating this monster but in a sense Igor, who in the beginning of the movie is living in abject conditions and considered less than human," Radcliffe explained.
Radclife will be joined by James McAvoy as the titular character as well as "Downton Abbey' alum Jessica Findlay Brown and Andrew Scott.
"Victor Frankenstein' is set for a premiere on Nov. 25.
