Amy Duggar-King is a happy wife as the former '19 Kids and Counting' guest star recently opened up about her life after getting married.

"We're just so in love," she said in an interview with People, referring to her relationship with husband Dillon King.

While enjoying a sweet and dreamy honeymoon getaway with her partner in Mexico's party capital of Cancún, Amy shared how things are going great for her.

"This trip has definitely brought us closer together," Amy said. "Before we had boundaries in our relationship. Now we wake up next to each other every day! It's been awesome."

Taking a break from the ongoing drama that her family is currently involved in back in the United States, the newlyweds are enjoying fiestas, live theater shows and lounging time at their resort's private terrace.

"Some days we're in the cabana bed all day," Amy said. "It's nice to just relax and focus on our marriage."

The latest teaser of their wedding ceremony taken at Horton Farms was released last week, showing Amy and Dillon being all smiles and exchanging their vows.

The 28-year-old Duggar cousin's relatives, including Uncle Jim Bob and Aunt Michelle Duggar as well as cousins Jessa and Jill Duggar, joined the other guests after the ceremony.

The nuptials took place in the midst of the Duggar family's second major controversy this year, which was revealed to the world by Aug. 20 when the eldest Duggar son, Josh, admitted to cheating on his wife Anna.

According to Amy, her conservative cousins "left right when the music was starting" and that, after exiting the venue, "everybody kicked off their shoes" to delight in the party.

"It went from classy to trashy real quick, which was the best!" the fun-loving Duggar said of the reception.

The 28-year-old newlywed, who also comes from a Christian family, does not follow the same path that her relatives follow.

"I'm not going to change who I am to have a certain image," she explained. "I'm the free spirit of the family. I'm not being rebellious; I love my family. I just have to be true to myself."

Amy also stated that, following the wedding ceremony, she will surely be dropping the Duggar name for her husband's.

"I'm so excited to take his last name, which I heard is trending [on Twitter] right now, that I'm ready to change my last name, which is the funniest thing, but I mean, it's true," she told Us Weekly. "I think that's going to be a really awesome feeling."
