Young adults at Korean First Presbyterian Church in Atlanta hosted an outreach event called "Friend's Invitation Night" on Saturday, September 20, during which they invited their friends for a night of games and worship.
All of the young adults showed much enthusiasm for the event, as some invited one or two friends, while others invited as many as ten friends. During the event, the group split up into five different teams, and played games together at the church gym. Following the games, the attendees ate together and started opening up with each other as well.
Then the attendees participated in worship, with a time of praise, sermon, and prayer. Special performances of body worship and a skit portrayed Christ's love and the gospel to the attendees. They also had the chance to receive gifts through raffle tickets.
By making the event a diverse experience with the games, performances, food, and gifts, the event allowed those who have never been exposed to church or who may have felt awkward coming to church to transition naturally into the church setting. It also created a positive portrayal of Christ and gave room for the attendees to be more curious of the gospel.
"The purpose of our Friend's Invitation Night was to plant the seeds," said Pastor Bong-Sung Kim. "We prepared this event prayerfully with the hopes that through having a good time together, that the seeds of Christ would have been planted in their hearts. We believe that it is God who is able to plant, water, and harvest the fruit, so all of our young adults are planning to continue to intercede for the friends that they invited and the new friends that they met during the event."
