Actress Jennifer Lawrence was recently spotted while getting out of a vehicle on the set of the upcoming flick, "Passengers,' which is being filmed in Atlanta. Co-star Chris Pratt was also spotted on location as he prepped up for his first day on set.
Sony's sci-fi space drama film will be helmed by Morten Tyldum who also took directorial duties for "The Imitation Game.' Tyldum is set to work with Jon Spaihts ("Doctor Strange'), who will be writing the script.
"Passengers' follows the story of a male passenger, Jim Preston, who goes aboard a spacecraft that is set to travel to a distant planet. Pratt's character wakes up from a "cyrogenic sleep' 90 years earlier than everybody else. Among the thousands of other passengers making the voyage, he rouses a fellow female passenger, Aurora, from sleep, thus the beginning of their romantic story.
The cast also includes Lawrence Fishburne, who will take on the role Colonel Alexander, as well as "Masters of Sex' actor Michael Sheen, whose character remains undisclosed. "Passengers' is set for an official premiere in 2016.
The new Sony movie has reportedly endured major drama behind the scenes as a source close to production tells Confidenti@l, "There have various creative differences and disagreements with one of the producers, and glaring similarities to the movie "Titanic' which the studio is worried makes "Passengers' feel more like a parody than a good love story set in an abandoned space milieu."
The insider also claims that Sony is being cautious about overspending on costumes and squandering money, thereby becoming more "frugal."
Although Hollywood actresses are still known to suffer pay inequality compared to their male co-stars, Lawrence has already spoken out against this problem, especially in taking on this new role.
The 25-year-old Oscar winner reportedly signed on the upcoming drama film to rake in $20 million, almost double as that of Pratt"”an unusual occurrence compared to other female actresses who have opened up about earning as little as 10 percent of what their male co-stars are paid with.
Lawrence's next onscreen appearances includes "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 2' in November, comedy-drama"Joy' in December and "X-Men Apocalypse' in May 2016.
As for Pratt, fans can look forward to his appearance on the "Guardians of the Galaxy' sequel and the 2016 remake of the classic western "The Magnificent Seven,' in which he will star with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, among others.
