Although "Sons of Anarchy' has already made its conclusion after seven seasons, fans of the FX series are still looking forward to more thrilling scenes.
Fortunately, series creator Kurt Sutter has confirmed that a "Sons of Anarchy' spinoff is currently in the works, TVLine has reported.
Sutter and FX have not yet revealed major details about the new spinoff, although it will reportedly be a prequel and will highlight the story of the Mayans motorcycle club.
According to TVLine, the series creator first opened up about the biker spinoff last year, through which he also unveiled that it could shed light on John Teller and Piney Winston's origins.
Last year, Sutter dropped hints on having "serious conversations" with other execs about creating a prequel for "Sons of Anarchy.' However, he was not convinced of coming up with a new series during such time, leading fans to believe that he has no other related plans or projects.
"Spinoffs work well, obviously, in procedural dramas, which ['Sons of Anarchy'] is not," he said.
Meanwhile, "Sons of Anarchy' actor Charlie Hunnam, who rose to stardom after taking on the role of Jax Teller in the hit biker gang drama series, will reportedly star in Sutter's other project.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sutter revealed that he prefers Hunnam to play the leading role of his upcoming movie, "Delivering Gen.' The series creator also expressed his excitement to work once more with the actor, who has apparently already looked through the script.
"Delivering Gen,' which is one of Sutter's earlier projects, has been described as "a love story between a junkie and a hit man."
Sutter also prefers Hunnam to take part in his upcoming series on FX, "The Bastard Executioner,' although the actor's past commitments have made it challenging.
"Charlie really wants to come and do, like, a little arc but, he's sort of booked solid for the next three years, so I don't know if that'll happen," Sutter told Entertainment Weekly.
He further stated: "But we still have Timothy V. Murphy and I'm sure we'll get some of our Irish dudes that we cast at some point on 'Sons.' It's hard to schlep over American actors. It's been primarily British actors, other than all the people that are related to me that are in the show."
