As rumors about the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens' storyline continue to develop, lead actor Mark Hamill, who takes on the original trilogy's hero Luke Skywalker, shared his sentiments about the possibilities for his character.
As confirmed by Hamill, Luke will not be returning to the saga as the "innocent farm boy" he had been in "Star Wars: A New Hope.'
"Obviously you're seeing him in a very different time in his life, there are lots of surprises in this movie. You're going to love it," Hammill said in an interview with Empire Magazine (via SlashFilm).
Fans continue to question Hamill's absence in all of the promotions for the highly anticipated movie, including its official poster, teasers and full-length trailer.
"Obviously you're seeing him in a very different time in his life. There are lots of surprises in this movie," the actor added.
Hamill's statements come after he confirmed through social media that he will return for the sequel to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens.' The 64-year-old actor recently shared a tweet, revealing that Luke Skywalker will make an appearance in "Episode VIII' of the new series.
Many fans believe that Luke will not make it to the end of the "The Force Awakens,' but Hamill's post suggests otherwise.
"Last shaved on 10/22 after final day of my 2nd #TheFlash (which airs 12/8 #XmasTrix), just in time for Ep VIII-whew!" the father-of-three wrote.
Hamill also shared one of the reasons why he has kept quiet all this time and has not disclosed details about his character's storyline.
Touching on the subject of spoilers, the actor explained: "I have something coming out where there's an amount of money where if it leaks, because of me, I don't get that payment. If I keep it a secret until the day it comes out, I get that payment. But I'm good about keeping secrets."
Helmed by J.J. Abrams, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens' makes its way to theaters on Dec. 18 in the U.S. Hamill is joined by the two original members of his trio- Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Carrie Fisher as Leia, who will no longer be called "Princess" but has taken on the title of "General."
Other cast members include Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn the Stormtrooper-turned-Jedi, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Lupita Nyong'o as Maz Kanata, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux and Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke.
