As "Supernatural' Season 11 goes on a week-long hiatus, series stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, who take on the roles of Dean and Sam Winchester, respectively, have dropped hints about God's role in helping them fight Amara, also known as the Darkness.
In the last episode, Metatron made it known that Darkness is God's sister and that it is crucial for the Almighty to lock her up in order to create mankind.
"Whether or not the boys can fight the Darkness without God is a question for us as audience members but is one of those things that's not a question for the Winchesters," Padelecki explained in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "They're going to do it come hell or high water, with God's help or with God trying to stop them."
The father-of-two added that, with or without God's assistance, the brothers will make an attempt to put a stop to the Darkness. However, co-star Ackles believes that the siblings will not defeat their main target without God's interference. The actor did tease fans that a bigger twist is coming, possibly involving the Darkness itself, as it remains uncertain whether is entirely evil or not.
"She is still assessing what this creation is that God made and I think the very famous line of her so far is that 'He is the light and I am the opposite of that, I am the Darkness,'" he said.
The former "Smallville' actor believes that the Darkness can be an interesting character and shared that the "Supernatural' team will be playing with the concept, hence the uncertainty of its nature.
With a considerably large threat in the form of the Darkness, the upcoming episode for "Supernatural' season 11 is titled "Just My Imagination,' in which Sam's imaginary friend, Sully, makes an appearance while the story gets more interesting as Dean begins to see him, too.
"Sam is shocked when his childhood imaginary friend Sully (guest star Nate Torrence) makes an unexpected appearance. Sam can't understand why he'd see Sully now but what's even more surprising is that Dean can see him, too," the official episode synopsis stated.
In addition, viewers can look forward to flashback scenes that will show a young Sam, how his friendship with Sully came to be and why he needed him in the first place. The episode's trailer can be viewed below.
"Supernatural' season 11 returns on Wednesday, Dec. 2 on The CW.
