Casting details for the upcoming DC Comics film adaptation "Wonder Woman' have recently been revealed.
While Gal Gadot was previously confirmed to take on the role of the titular Wonder Woman, recognized as an Amazon warrior with super powers, other cast members will include Chris Pine ("Star Trek'), Robin Wright ("House of Cards') and David Thewlis ("Harry Potter' film series).
Supporting cast members will include Lucy Davis ("The Office'), Ewen Bremner ("Trainspotting') and Saïd Taghmaoui ("American Hustle').
Created as a film adaptation to Wonder Woman's origin story, many of the behind-the-scenes photos that have made the headlines have been set in a specific period, which means that certain parts of the movie will be set in the past.
As filming has already started, cast and crew are expected to shoot scenes in the U.K., France and Italy. Gadot already took to social media and shared the first official film photo on Twitter, writing the following statement: "Almost 75 years in the making"¦#WonderWoman is underway."
Widely recognized for her role in the "Fast & Furious' franchise, the Israeli actress has reportedly signed up to star in three "Wonder Woman' movies, as stated by Empire.
In the upcoming "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice' film, she is also set to take on the role of the superheroine opposite Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman. Such DC Comics film will be Wonder Woman's first appearance and it is expected that she will play a key role in the movie. However, the 2017 film will be marked as her first standalone film in many years.
"Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe," director Zack Snyder shared. "Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."
"Wonder Woman' is set to hit cinemas on June 23, 2017.
