The Winchester brothers are set to confront the series' greatest villain yet when 'Supernatural' returns for season 11 this October on The CW.
Titled "Out of the Darkness, Into the Fire,' the first episode is expected to pick up from where the last season's finale ended, particularly when Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) were engulfed by the Darkness.
As further stated by the official synopsis of the first episode: "Picking up where the finale left off, Sam and Dean must deal with the Darkness that has been unleashed. Castiel (Misha Collins) deals with the effects of Rowena's (Ruth Connell) spell and recalls his brutal battle with Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard)."
Executive producer Jeremy Carver has already opened up about what viewers can look forward to in season 11. Aside from the Darkness taking over the impala, he assured fans that they will instantly learn about what happens to the brothers.
The producer also discussed the spell Rowena placed on Castiel which induced the angel to kill Crowley.
"We saw Crowley attacked by Castiel, who was overtaken by the attack dog spell Rowena placed upon him, which is basically where we start off season 11," he explained.
Carver also added that the first two episodes should be deemed a "big mystery story,' particularly one that is centered on the nature of the Darkness as well as its wants.
Another expected plotline for season 11 is Dean getting rid of Death.
"Well, there has always been a Death. Once he goes missing, it creates some issues, particularly among souls, particularly among reapers," executive producer and writer Andrew Dabb shared. "[His disappearance] is something we want to pace out over the course of our season, or at least the first half of the season, to really dive into that."
Series star Padalecki has also shared certain details on the upcoming episodes, including information on the Impala.
"It's all about the Impala. We've had this third lead character for 10 seasons strong and, we're not revealing a personality, but we see just how much a part of the Winchesters' lives it is," the 34-year-old actor said of one of the season 11 episodes.
His character's relationship with his brother will also be toughened up as Sam and Dean become united once again to fight it out with the same target during a major apocalyptic event.
Compared to the previous installments, co-star Ackles referred to the upcoming season as a "bit of a throwback to maybe season one or season two," when the siblings fought less and had habitually teamed up fight for humanity.
"Supernatural' season 11 is set for a premiere on Oct. 7 at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
