The stars of "19 Kids and Counting" are once again in hot water as social media fans and followers lambast the cousin of Josh Duggar, named Amy Duggar, for allegedly seeking material donations for her upcoming wedding with fiancé Drilon King. Unlike the previous weddings of Jill Duggar with now hubby Derick Dillard and Jessa Duggar with Ben Seewald, TLC earlier announced that Amy Duggar's special day will neither be televised nor sponsored due to the cancellation of "19 Kids and Counting."
In her Instagram account, Amy Duggar stated that people who will "send anything" to her and soon to be husband King will receive handwritten "Thank You" notes which she will personally make, according to Fashion and Style. She also noted that the said post was prompted by the numerous emails they received from fans and followers with regard their address. Josh Duggar's cousin then captioned the post with, "Wedding bells are about to ring! I'm excited to get started writing on all these hand written letters!" She added, "I'm thankful to everyone who follows us and is excited about our big day! He's amazing. I can't believe he picked me!"
As a concluding note to her post, Jim Bob Duggar's niece attempted to clarify that she and her family are not after anyone's monetary contribution. She wrote, "Ps: For us it's not really about the gifts or money, but we would like the chance to personally thank everyone! I just think it would be a cool idea to connect with the followers!"
Almost immediately after this post went viral online, netizens went on to criticize the 28-year-old "19 Kids and Counting" relative. One of the prevalent insults hurled at Jessa Duggar's cousin was that she and her fiancé are peddling their own special day to raise money for their lifestyle. According to Christian Today, some netizens even as far as calling out Amy Duggar by telling her that she is "pathetic" and "shameless."
Another user, according to the same report, wrote: "She says this is just about connecting with fans but won't respond when people ask why she didn't just put "please letters only" or no gifts. @amyduggar is clearly looking for freebies. Riding the coattails of her cousins has come to an end, so she has to get as much as she can before no one remembers her name." As of this writing, majority of the negative comments on Amy Duggar's post have been deleted.
Although the post received negative responses, loyal fans and followers of "19 Kids and Counting" defended Josh Duggar's cousin. Some pointed out that Amy Duggar simply wanted to extend a personal touch to her followers, while others stated that they are eager to donate and send gifts to the future spouses.
